The Sew and Sews members meet on the first and third Fridays of the month. The first Friday of the month they meet at 12:30pm in the Lounge in the Education Building. At this meeting they usually do a project or craft to benefit the homeless community. The third Friday of the month, they pick a restaurant and meet for lunch, usually at noon. This group provides each other with lots of laughs, ideas, and fellowship.
Utilizing the recently upgraded kitchen, the group works together to prepare and freeze meals to be delivered to the church’s homebound members on a regular basis.
Another project the group has taken on is sewing and filling toiletry bags for women who are exiting homeless shelters in Hackensack and Jersey City. The bags are filled with personal items and toiletries. In the cold weather hats, mufflers, gloves and socks are added.
In October they organize "Cozy Soups for Fall," to raise funds for the Center for Food Action in Mahwah.
